Sharjah emirate is a venue for different national and international festivals. Festivals are the true colors of Sharjah. Most of the visitors and tourists travel to Sharjah to enjoy these fantastic events happening all year round. Every year, Sharjah organizes these events to celebrate cultural festivities and to attract tourists from all corners of the world.

Sharjah Light Festival

A unique event designed to capture the imagination of all, as well as highlight Sharjah’s distinguished landmarks and historic buildings. This breath-taking and electrifying nine-day-February event floods Sharjah with light and colour, and celebrates the art of drawing with light and combines imagery with captivating music to create an exhilarating experience.
 

Sharjah Government Communication Forum

This annual Government Communication Forum is organised by Sharjah Media Centre and held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah. The Forum provides the institutions in the emirate with the latest tools and skills needed to develop governmental communication practices.

It also attempts to correct misconceptions regarding government communication and facilitates qualifying programmes for professional practitioners in the government communication sector.

Moreover, it aims to highlight the significance of government communication and enhance its position among opinion leaders, executives of governmental institutions, and officials in Sharjah.

The forum also plays a major role in drawing the to the importance of Sharjah Media Centre and its role in supporting the government of Sharjah in its communication and media objectives.
 

Sharjah International Show jumping championship

Held under the generous patronage of H.H. Shk. Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, this show jumping event gets underway at Emirates Equestrian Centre (EEC) on January when Olympic medallists and the UAE’s brightest show jumping stars compete for a share of a grand prize fund. Show jumping is another equestrian sport which has seen maximum progress in the Emirates within a short span of time.

Many countries take part in this prestigious event including the GCC, the Arab and foreign countries.
 

World Trade Week - Sharjah

Held under the generous patronage of H.H. Shk. Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, the World Trade Week - Sharjah is an annual week long series of trade-related conferences, exhibitions, seminars and events that celebrate and promote the importance of trade to the sustainable growth of the local, regional and global economy. Providing a unique opportunity for learning from industry experts, innovators and policy makers, this even promotes investment opportunities around the world and paves the way into new markets. It also fosters cooperation between economic departments, private enterprises and governments from around the region and the world. Additionally, It Identifies trends and opportunities in international trade while Showcasing best practices, knowledge and insights of experts and successful companies.

In its inaugural debut, World Trade Week Sharjah will become a catalytic platform for businesses to discover new opportunities and collaborate to enhance flow of trade.
 

Sharjah International Arabian Horse Festival

Held at Sharjah Equestrian & Racing Club under the generous patronage of H.H. Shk. Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the goal of this festival is to shed lights on the Arabian horses as an integral part of the authentic Arabian heritage and highlights their prestigious position in the Arabian culture locally, regionally and internationally. It also highlights the importance of the Arab Identity and National Heritage especially since horses formulate a big part of them; on the other hand, these events give the foreigners the chance to enrich their knowledge about the Arabian culture. This event attracts a huge number of official personalities, dignitaries, well-known celebrities and horse lovers from various nationalities - including foreigners and Arabs from all over GCC countries.
 

Sharjah Heritage days

Sharjah heritage days is an active annual carnival, includes many traditional events and ideas that celebrates the cultural heritage of the people of United Arab Emirates, and highlights the beauty of the old vocabularies aiming to spread the awareness of these vocabularies to the new generation, so that they learn a lot about old days habits and values. This colorful event signifies the locals’ true cultural identity, and serves as a reminder to the younger generation of their cultural identity, the pride of their forefathers, and the foundation of what they stand for as emaratis.
 

Al Qasba Food Festival

Food lovers have a special treat in store for them with Al Qasba Food Festival.

Year on year this celebration grows bigger and better to include not only daily cooking shows and competitions, but also various entertainment activities. Al Qasba's walkways become alive with fun and entertainment, including musical shows and street performances, for the whole family. Each day of the festival features a different celebrity chef giving a full 180 minute demonstration. The festival also includes an exhibition of gourmet foods from commercial exhibitors and local talents and little chefs also have the chance to pick up some tricks at the Young Chef's Academy.

Coinciding with the event, Al Qasba organises lectures about the tenets of Quranic Healing and the importance of the foods that are mentioned in the Holy Quran. This is in addition to the 'UAE Green Festival' exhibition, a countrywide celebration designed specifically to educate people across the UAE about all the aspects of a green life.
 

Sharjah Children Reading festival

The Sharjah Children's Reading Festival (SCRF) takes place in April at the Sharjah Expo Centre. Arab and foreign publishing houses take part in the event with over 20,000 printed, audio-visual and electronic titles. SCRF hosts a number of guests including authors, intellectuals, artists and researchers in the field of children's literature, who participate in the parallel seminars, workshops and exhibitions, which is held as part of the official SCRF program. 

SCRF also includes a series of art and heritage workshops, as well as theatrical plays, reading sessions, a play zone, circus performances, clown shows, special needs workshops, safety workshops, nutrition workshops and many other activities performed by guests from the GCC region, Arab world and Europe. In addition, the cookery corner which hosts famous chefs specializing in children’s cuisine, SCRF awards children with books.
 

Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial

Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial has always been known to be of one of the most remarkable events taking place in the region. It aim at revealing the power of the letter in bringing cultures together. It is an art that reflects the spirit of the place and the existence.

The event is a celebration of Arabic calligraphy and its creators, and aims to make the world realise the beauty and authenticity of the Arabic letter. It introduces the features of Islamic civilization as it is a major form of artistic expression in Islamic cultures, especially and particularly in religious contexts.




 

Sharjah Biennial

Sharjah Biennial is organised by Sharjah Art Foundation, which brings a broad range of contemporary art and cultural programmes to the communities of Sharjah, the UAE and the region. Since 1993, Sharjah Biennial has commissioned, produced and presented large-scale public installations, performances, and films, offering artists from the region and beyond an internationally recognised platform for exhibition and experimentation.

Ramadan & Summer Shopping

In summer, the city of Sharjah offers ten weeks of fun and great entertainment for all. This annual event starts in the month of June running parallel to the sister emirate’s Dubai Shopping Festival. Sharjah summer festival offers a large number of summer promotional activities, attractive discounts, deals, raffles and grand entertainment shows. Usually, these activities are organized to encourage people to shop during summer.

Sharjah Spring Festival takes place in the month of January. 1700 outlets selling a variety of different products make it one of region’s biggest spring shows. The promotions offered at the festival include special discounts, fun and entertaining events and activities aimed at highlighting the tourism scene of Sharjah.
 

Sharjah International Book Fair

Sharjah International Book Fair is a ten-day marathon event held every year in November. Last year the event attracted 400,000 visitors from nearly 42 countries, along with hundreds of publishers from all over the world.
 

National Day

Every year, on December 2nd the entire emirate of Sharjah turns green, red, black and white to celebrate the independence of the UAE. Glittering fireworks, musical parades and traffic jams are all part of the UAE’s National Day Celebrations.
 
 
 

Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah

Chinese Commodities Fair Sharjah (CCFS) has emerged as the largest in the Middle East for Chinese goods, and one of the most prominent platforms promoting Chinese products in the Middle East.

The CCFS is considered to be a major booster in the trade relations between China and the GCC states as a whole and the UAE in particular.

Aiming to bridge the gap between the Arab World and China, CCFS is once again set to help businesses from both sides to explore better opportunities and strengthen existing ties and cooperation.
